Calvary Health Care Bethlehem is a public, not-for-profit Catholic Health Care service that specializes in palliative care and progressive neurology.
Our CHSP Flexible Respite program offers in-home or in-community (e.g. outings) respite to enable carers to take a break from their caring duties. During a respite session, a Support Worker or Personal Care Worker will undertake the care tasks that the carer would usually provide such as
- accompanying a client to an appointment
- undertaking personal and domestic care tasks
- taking the client out for a recreational activity (e.g. supervised walk)
Respite should be enjoyable for the client as well as being a break for the carer.
Carers who are well supported, and who take care of their own needs as well as those they care for, tend to find the care giving experience more positive and are able to keep caring for someone for longer.
